Our jigsaw is a 1,000 piece F.X. SCHMID puzzle called Whimsical Butterfly. It has no straight-line borders and is in fact butterfly shaped. The design on the body and wings include a lion’s head, beetle, squirrel, elephants, fish, birds, bunnies, feathers, patterns and happy faces.
It was purchased in 1999. When the puzzle was completed, Colin Bassett and Orrell Morley combined their talents to present the puzzle as you see it on our wall today. Colin cut the exact size and shape of the butterfly from backing timber and Orrell glued each piece of the puzzle into place. Many thanks to you both for presenting it so wonderfully, and for your foresight in preventing me from just placing it behind glass in a frame. It was unveiled in October of that year to mark our 5th birthday.
