Relaxation Therapy
MEDITATION

Gaining control of our mental processes

Do you control your mind or does it control you? In our everyday lives many of us find it difficult to discipline our thinking and emotions. We often waste valuable mental energy on unpleasant, stressful or emotional memories, and situations in the future that may never happen.

Meditation is a form of mental spring cleaning, or uncluttering. We need to learn how to pull a black curtain across the television screens of our minds if we wish to enter into silence and access the harmony that comes with it.

One of the best meditations you can have is to walk along a beach and just watch the sea as waves gently wash in onto the sandy shore, and then roll back to become one with the vastness of the ocean once more.

Meditation is good for our health; it can reduce pulse and respiration rates, as well as blood pressure. It can also change our emotional state.

If you’d like to tame your brain, why not come along to a private or group session. It’s definitely in your higher good.

Yoga
Our teachers use the Hatha way of yoga.  It combines stretching and breathing, in a way that helps you to focus.  Unlike Tai Chi, which is continual movement, yoga has a brief interlude between exercises.  As well as the exercise, yoga encompasses a spiritual approach to health.  It accesses the energy system through the chakras.

Pilates

Pilates is described as a balanced fitness and body awareness programme that uses breathing patterns that help decrease tension in the body. It results in awesome posture, flatter stomach, a strong back and it improves self-esteem. Classes are for all ages, sizes, active or inactive people. Although there are similarities between Yoga and Pilates, one of the major differences is the breathing. Yoga breathing mainly uses nasal breath, whilst in Pilates, you exhale through the mouth. Another difference is that in Pilates, you isolate and work one part of the body at a time.
