 THE CHRYSALIS BUTTERFLIES
Around the upper walls of our Centre you will see dozens of origami butterflies. Mrs Junko Manami of Japan showed Molly how to create these colourful decorations. Many hours of folding, tying and snipping followed and up they went on the wall, brightening an otherwise blank area. Made from junk mail, colourful brochures and magazine pages they are very inexpensive to make.
One of the more innovative initiatives was to cut out newspaper photographs of some of the world’s most unpopular people, especially those who commit crimes against humanity. Molly will tell anyone who comments on the butterflies, “There are a lot of naughty people up there. We like to turn them into butterflies and place them in the Chrysalis energy in hope that it will help them to a higher state of being.”
Of course to keep the balance, the colourful pages used also contain photographs of those who already come from the light, together with others who could use extra light and love in their lives. Some of the latest images to beautifully enhance our walls are of George Bush, GI's in Iraq, Muslim women for peace, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, and Children saved from prostitution in Cambodia. These bring the total to 163, but keep in mind, this is an never-ending project!
Those who have visited and asked to be shown how to make the butterflies are always invited to leave one behind to add to the wall, thus leaving a bit of themselves at the centre. Occasionally a visitor has asked if they could have one to keep…… It’s pleasing to know that we can give them a little bit of Chrysalis to remember us by. And how remarkable and wonderful it is to have our hand-folded butterflies landing on walls all over the world.
